On Ash Wednesday, each child made a paper cross and put the one thing that he/she wants to work on during Lent. Some of them include: Helping out at home, Following class rules, Being kind to others, Sharing with others. Each day during our prayer service, I ask the children to remember what is on their promise cross and try at least once to do that thing each day.
Our words for this week are: “them”, “one”, and “like”.
Each year, the teachers are required by the Diocese to have the children do three writing samples and save them into a writing portfolio. These portfolios are sent to the next grade level at the end of the year and given to the students at the end of 8th Grade. If your child stays through Graduation, he/she will have a wonderful collection of writing samples over 9 years! We will be doing the first of our three this week.
