I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend.  It went by so fast!

This week is the beginning of the Season of Lent.  We will attend Ash Wednesday Mass at 10:00 this Wednesday.  The children will begin to understand this special Holy time in our Church.

High Frequency Word Wall Words: get, not, were

Phonics: We will be working on word building and sorting activities with the short /e/ sound.  This sound is a more difficult one for most children.  Because it is a short week and also Ash Wednesday, we will only be able to meet twice.  We will continue with short /e/ next week.

Science: We will continue to learn about clouds.  The children had a great time reading Looked Like Spilt Milk and making his/her own drawings and interpretations.  We are going to learn about the three different types of clouds this week.

Pegasus:  We are currently reading Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain.  This story is about a young man who is trying to survive in the African desert.  He happens to come upon different gifts that help him to bring rain to the desert.  This story has enriched vocabulary that the children have had so much fun learning.  Ask your child what words such as overhead, slender, and arrow mean.  You will be shocked! We are going to be researching and learning about different African animals this week. Your child will be writing a book of facts about the different animals we are studying.

Please remember gym shoes on Friday.

Also, a big shout out to the parents who helped us celebrate our 100th Day and Valentine’s Day all in the same week.  We had a great time.  We appreciate all your efforts.
Have a happy week :)
