1B Week of Feb. 16
Published by Mrs. McMahon (1B) February 14th, 2010 in Announcements.
To prepare for our Lenten Journey, the first grade students will make sacrifice beads on Tuesday. These beads will be blessed by Father Gabriel. Your child should use these beads throughout the forty days of Lent to help remember Jesus’ sacrifice for us. Also, encourage your child to make an extra effort to get along with fellow students and brothers and sisters as a way to show Jesus our love.

Even though conditions are not great, one of our seeds sprouted and we saw roots and a stem grow out of our seed. This week we will try another experiment. We will cover some leaves with black paper and predict what will happen to the leaves if they don’t get sunlight. In a week we, will observe and write about any changes we discover.
We will watch a plants life cycle from seed to adult plant with a time lapsed video of the life cycle of a plant. We will also watch a power point of plant varieties and discuss the fact that there are many different kinds of plants. Your child will have a test on this material next week.
