3B Happenings 2/8/10 - 2/11/10
Published by Mrs. Donovan (3B) February 7th, 2010 in Announcements.HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! We will celebrate on Thursday, February 11. (No school on 2/12 or Monday, 2/15) Please help your child have their valentines ready with just their signature. We do not individually address each valentine to a particular student. They will pass out their valentines on 2/11. We have a new student, so 30 valentines are needed. It should be a fun day for all!
Monday, Sr. Carolyn visits our class to reward the Monarch Book Club participants. Tuesday, Mrs. Joy Dooley makes a short visit to speak about personal safety. Wednesday, we are very grateful to Mrs. Allen for purchasing at the auction and setting up a pizza party during lunchtime with Fr. Gabriel! Please remember to send a snack even though lunch is provided that day. Thursday, we celebrate Valentine’s Day. No Hot Lunch this week.
Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, is a week from this Wednesday. Wow, time is passing so quickly!

All three groups will complete the vocabulary and skills for these stories plus the daily editing work by Thursday. The comprehension quizzes will be given on Thursday. The spelling test is Thursday. There is much to do in just 4 days.
Math: The Cubs will finish up Chapter 13 (customary units of measurement) this week and the test will be Thursday, 2/11. Next week, they begin the metric system. The Blackhawks will finish Chapter 11 (division) and theĀ test will be Thursday, 2/11. Next week, they will study time and measurement.
Religion: We study Chapter 12 this week and the test is next Tuesday, 2/16.
Social Studies: The 3B students will finish up the study of the Yurok tribe. Watch the Wednesday envelope for the instructions on the Indian Report.
English: We are working on Unit 5. In creative writing we will create valentines for the parish sick. We will also continue work on the final copies of our narratives.
Spanish: Please refer to your child’s homework notebook for the 2 pages due this Thursday.
Music: Practice the recorder at home. Bring the recorder to school every Tuesday for class.
Accelerated Reader: Many students have completed 4 quizzes successfully. Please encourage your child to read daily. Record the minutes on the Book It reading chart.
We are again in need of paper towels and Kleenex. If you have not donated as yet, these supplies are very much needed. Please ask your child if their spiral notebooks or folders need replacement. Some students have lost supplies from their pouch. They should be able to tell you what they need replaced. Thank you for all you do to help.
