3B Happenings 1/25 - 1/29

This week will be a full 5 days. I am pleased we can move through the material at a more normal pace. Arts Alive will be rescheduled for this week. The children always enjoy the art presentations. This coming Sunday, please come to the 11:30 Mass. It is the special kick off service for Catholic Schools Week. After Mass, stop by the classroom for Open House. Visit the Science and Art Fair. The Book Fair opens as well. It will be a busy weekend at St. Joan of Arc!

Reading: The Fireballs will read Two Bad Ants. The Bees will read Animal Fact/Animal Fable. The Bowling Balls will read In My Family. All three groups will complete daily skill practice, daily oral language editing, vocabulary stories, a Friday comprehension quiz, and a Friday Spelling test.

Math: The Cubs will test out of Chapter 11 and begin Chapter 12 which starts out reviewing time. Keep practicing the multiplication basic facts at home. Timed tests continue every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for both groups. The Blackhawks will continue their work in Chapter 10 and study division.

Religion: We continue the study of Chapter 10 and learn about the world wide church and its leaders. The test will be this Thursday. Please study the highlighted sentences and the Chapter Review.

Social Studies: The 3B homeroom students will finish up the study of the Navajo Nation. We study the Yurok tribe next. We learn the principles of economics, political structures, and community building along with American history.

English: We review Unit 4 this week. The test will be this Thursday. Please study pages 162 and 163. More practice can be found on pages 166-176. We continue writing our narratives and poems.

Spanish: Please refer to your child’s homework notebook for the pages due this Thursday.

Music: Practice the recorder at home. Bring the recorder to school every Tuesday for class.

Accelerated Reader: Many students have completed 2 quizzes successfully. Please encourage your child to read daily.

Thank you to all who have donated paper towels and Kleenex. Many students are near the end of their spiral notebooks. Please ask your child if any notebooks or folders need replacement.
