3B Happenings 1/18 - 1/22

Tuesday, we have a Mad Science assembly. Wednesday, report cards come home. Friday we have Arts Alive and a Benediction service to celebrate life.
Reading: The Fireballs will read The Bat Boy and His Violin. The Bees will read Lon Po Po. The Bowling Balls will read The Terrible Eek. All three groups will complete daily skill practice, daily oral language editing, vocabulary stories, a Friday comprehension quiz, and a Friday spelling test. There is much to do in just four days.
Math: The Cubs will finish Chapter 11. Testing will be this Friday and Monday (1/25). Next week, we will continue timed testing of basic multiplication facts; but the new chapter will focus on time and measurement. The Blackhawks will continue in Chapter 10 and understanding the concept of division. The Chapter test will be next week. They will continue timed testing of basic multiplication facts to build speed and accuracy.
Religion: We begin the study of Chapter 10 and how our worldwide church is organized and led. The test is set for next week.
Social Studies: My 3B homeroom returns to me for social studies. They have Ms. Brown for more science last quarter. We will be studying Native American cultures both past and present (Chapter 3). The westward movement and development of our country and communities will be covered. We also explore the pioneer era and early immigration.
English: We finish Unit 4 this week. Testing will be next week. The children will be asked to study pages 162 and 163. Further review can be found on pages 166-176. We are writing poems and Christmas break narratives.
Spanish: Pages 16 and 17 are due this Thursday.
Music: Everyone is very eager to start playing their recorders. Please ask your child to bring it home and play for you. Their homework is to practice.
Thank you to all who have donated paper towels and Kleenex. Many students are near the end of their spiral notebooks. Please ask your child if any notebooks or folders need replacement.
