1B Week of Jan 11

If you don’t already know from your child, we have an addition to our classroom, a new SMART Board. We are all so excited about this new technology that will help our learning be more interactive. We will be using the SMART Board for every subject and throughout the day. AREN’T WE BLESSED!!
Religion – We will complete Chapter 9 and we will have a test on this Chapter and the Unit on Thursday, January 13. The terms that your child should know are prayer, Lord’s Prayer, Our Father, commandment, faith. The ideas that your child should know are that
- Jesus heals the sick.
- You can pray everywhere.
- You can give the gift of love.
- God wants to be your friend.

Math
Saints
Your child will have a test on estimating and then grouping by 10 to count. They will also use the symbols to show less than and greater than relationships between groups of objects and numbers. Your child should know how to skip count by 2’s , 5’s and 10’s to 100. The test will be Friday, Jan. 15.
Homework pages for this week are a packet sent home, due Monday, Jan. 11.
Keep practicing Math Facts through 9.
Angels
Your child will have a test on Tuesday, Jan 12. Your child should recognize and identify fractions, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4. They should also predict logical outcomes using words like certain, probable, impossible.
The homework for this week will be a packet sent home.- due Monday, Jan. 18

Science
Your child’s Science Project is due on Wednesday, Jan 13. Your child will give a brief oral report about his/her project to the class about their project. Your child may choose to complete one of the following projects.
Choice One - Make a poster board using pictures to show one of the following ways to conserve natural resources., recycle, reuse or reduce.
Choice Two - Use an item or items that otherwise might be thrown out to make into another useful object.
