MRS. DANOWSKI WEEK of JANUARY 4 - 8, 2010
Published by Mrs. Danowski (4A) January 1st, 2010 in Announcements.GRATITUDE: I want to thank all at SJA for their time, kind words, and spirit of cooperation. I appreciated also the cards, PSO Christmas luncheon, PSO monetary gift from parents, and the personal gifts hand-delivered by students with bigggg grins!!! After Christmas it seems like the rest of the school year is a “blink.” I know I feel re-energized as I anticipate the students are too. We have alot more to do as we get ready for 5th grade! WE CAN DO IT!!! Remember: God foresees everything and He forsakes nothing!

RELIGION: Earlier Fr. Gabriel visited 4th grade and asked the students how they perceived Advent. Isn’t it wonderful to have a pastor so visible, caring, and so approachable? Everyone enjoyed our 4A American Idol show. Volunteers were so creative with their songs of PRAISE and performances complete with a microphone. We laughed and sang and there were many encores!!! Students insisted on using the SJA puppet theater as a television for their performances. Now students want to do it each week. Yikes!! We agreed to do it once a marking period. Back to the textbook, Chapter 6 reflecting how choices are made and identifying ways to form our consciences. In honor of SJA’s theme, “We are Called to be Saints,” we will examine the life of St. Elizabeth Seton. We continue to pray for “Priests” (Protector of the Poor in Spirit) as Pope Benedict XVI requested. We pray that they may be examples of the Good Shepherd who came to seek out and rescue those who were lost.
.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Begin in-class unit on Ellis Island describing the Statue of Liberty as a symbol of freedom and hope to all immigrants and reasons for immigration.
.
SCIENCE: Fr. Gabriel came into our classroom earlier while students were doing their gem research on the wireless laptops. He marveled at their expertise in retrieving information from the laptops and how focused they were with their assignment. Now they will organize researched notes taken earlier in class to create a rough draft gemstone report. This is their opportunity to use their English skills and science knowledge to write a rough draft report in class on their selected gem. Many thanks to students who embellished and enriched our science center bringing in different rock/mineral specimens.
