Math news for the upcoming week.
8th Grade POTW
Your school has a telephone chain to notify people of weather-related school cancellations. In the first round of calls, the school secretary calls two different homes. In the second round, each of those families call two other families. Each family has to make only two calls, but the chain is still a fast way to notify a lot of people. How many families are called in the fifth round of calls? How many rounds are needed to call all 123 families at your school?
8th grade math: 8-1 will have a Ch. 12 quiz on Wednesday. 8-3 will have a Ch. 5 test on Thursday or Friday.
7th Grade POTW
Santa is on his way to the North Lumber Company to buy some more supplies to finish the square pen he is building to hold his famous reindeer. He has already completed three sides of the pen and has spent exactly $250. The fence posts that he used cost $10 each. How much will he have to spend to finish the pen?
7th Grade Math: 7-1 will have a Ch. 5 quiz on Wednesday. 7-2 will have a Ch. 5 quiz Thursday or Friday.
6th Grade POTW
Small pieces of cheese are placed over each of twelve numbers on the face of a circular clock. A mouse eats the cheese over the number 1 and walks clockwise around the clock, eating every other piece of cheese. What number will be under the last uneaten piece of cheese?
6th Grade Math: 6-1 (purple) may have a Ch. 5 (Geometry) quiz by the end of the week. 6-3 (red) will have a Ch. 5 test before the end of the week.
8th Grade Vocabulary: Unit 4-6 test on Tuesday.
