BLOG Week of Nov. 30
Welcome back from our Thanksgiving Holiday. I hope that everyone had time to relax and had plenty of good food and fun. We will come back to school preparing for Christmas and the birth of Jesus. We will count the days of Advent and prepare for our Christmas program that will be on Friday, December 18. We will be sending home a Christmas Stocking Project in the Wednesday envelope. Please work together to create a special Family Stocking.
Religion
We will complete Chapter 7, Jesus Heals. We have learned that our faith asks us to help the poor and the sick and lonely as Jesus taught and Mother Terese showed us. We learned about Jarius’s Faith and how Jesus healed his daughter. We will begin Chapter 8 Jesus Teaches Love. We will learn of the Great Commandment to Love God and Love Others. We will discuss ways to show Love to God and to our Neighbors. We will also discuss the meaning of Advent and preparing for Baby Jesus.

Read: Reread all the stories from Unit 5, Part 2. Your child may keep the book all week to read all the unit stories. Please return the book by Friday, Dec. 4. Please encourage your child to read fluently, paying attention to punctuation, and using expression.

Your child is beginning Unit 4,Chapter 10, Place Value to 100. We will group objects by 10. We will regroup object to show that 21 ones is the same as 2 tens and 1 one. We will read and write numbers to 100.
Homework – pages 65-74 due Dec. 1
Angels
Your child is beginning Chapter 8, Spatial Sense and Patterns. We will use vocabulary that describes a variety of positions such as left, right, near, far, etc. We will make patterns using blocks in ABCABC, AABBCC, ABAB, etc.
We will learn about Symmetry and make some objects that have mirror images.
Homework - pages 51-58 due Dec. 7
Science
We will study land and water. We will compare different kinds of rocks. We will discuss different water formations, ocean, lakes, rivers, and streams. We will discuss how weather affects the land. We will look at soil and see different types of soil.
