Kindergarten News
Published by Mrs. Kolar (K) September 27th, 2009 in Announcements.I hope you enjoyed the weekend. There were wonderful things in our parish this week to enjoy. On Friday there was the Pizza Party. On Saturday, there was the Oktoberfest. I hope you were able to join one of these or both activities.
This week the gospel tells about whoever is not against us is for us. Welcome Christ wherever and through whomsoever He chooses to make Himself known to you. For the understanding of our children, we will practice doing good deeds this week. I will soon begin checking to see who can independently recite the Sign of the Cross and the Angel of God prayer. This week we will be celebrating the feast of Our Guardian Angels. Did you ever give your guardian angel a name? It is never too late!
In math, we have been busy continuing our practice of number studies. Our friends, the Math Monsters, introduced us to patterning. Many of us have been surprised to find it is not as easy as we first thought. We practiced some more patterning and sorting with some online interactive activities. Remember to keep counting, identifying numerals and counting sets of objects at home. After signing your child’s paper sent home in last Wednesday’s envelope, please be sure to have your child return it to me. These help me to understand your child’s needs better than just scores in my grade book.
Our high frequency words for this week are said, his, and that. Be sure to practice reading the vocabulary mini-notebooks and rereading a page or two in the dictionaries each evening. I am amazed at how the children are spotting our words in so many places!
With the weather changes, be sure your child is dressed for the outdoors.
Please talk to your children about being extra quiet in our school this week. The older children will be taking standardized tests this week. We need to respect their need for a quiet environment in which to take these tests.
Have a happy week!
