5A-Week of August 31 - September 4

As the school year gets into full swing, it is important that the students are completing their homework each night. Please look at the blog regularly to see important reminders for things happening in 5A.
MATH:
9:30 math will be finishing chapter 1 in the math book this week and have their chapter 1 test on Friday, September 4th. Remember to bring in a study note on the day of the test.
10:30 math will review exponents, decimal place value, and compare numbers this week. They will have their chapter 1 test the following week. I will send a note home later this week so you know what day it will occur.
ENGLISH:
We will be reviewing sentences this week. Students will be making small posters on one of the four types of sentences. They will also continue working on their narrative about a special object.
SCIENCE:
Students will be learning about parts of the ecosystem and food chains this week. They will be drawing the food chain as well as writing a short animal narrative.
5A SPELLING:
Students will get a typed list of their words on Tuesday in class. Spelling tests will always be given on Thursday this year.
BAND:
Mr. Portillo came and visited the 5th grade students to show them different instruments on Monday. Students will have the opportunity to play some of the instruments later on in the week.
KLEENEX AND PAPER TOWELS:
We are in need of paper towels and Kleenex for our classroom. If possible, please send in a box of Kleenex and a roll of paper towels with your child. Thank you!
