SHOULD I TAKE MY CHILD TO PRE-SCHOOL SCREENING?

YES!  This provides an opportunity for you to learn more about your child.  You will be mailed two simple questionnaires to complete and bring with you on the day of the screening.  Professional educators will meet with parents at the screening to discuss the results of the questionnaire and to address any concerns which you may have about your child.  Your child will also be given the opportunity to play in a group setting and will have his/her vision and hearing checked.

WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION CAN I GET FROM THE SCREENING?

kids.jpgScreening results will indicate how your child is developing.  You will be given some suggestions for working with your child at home.  These suggested activities will help prepare your child for school.  Any child found to be significantly below age level at the screening would be offered follow-up diagnostic services to further assess the child’s individual needs.  Depending on your child’s screening results, he/she may also be eligible for either the at-risk preschool or the early childhood special education program.
