3A Week of December 1 Ms. Brown

Back to our regular schedule; at least for a while!

Spanish: pages 11 and 14 due this Friday, December 5

Religion: This week we review Unit 3 and discuss the Catholic Social Teaching of the Rights and Responsibilities of the Human Person. We will also begin to make a Jesse Tree and listen to the Scripture Advent readings that accompany the symbols. We will also spend some time preparing ourselves for Reconciliation this week on Wednesday.

English: We continue on in Unit 3 working with helping verbs, irregular verbs, and contractions with not. We will finish the unit this week. Next week we will review on Monday and Wednesday and take the Unit 3 test on Thursday, December 11.

Science: We continue to take a look at animals and identify their structures. We will learn what animals are and what they need. On Tuesday the children will be given a Science packet that is due in the 3A Science box by Friday, December 5.

Math: The Calculators will review multiplying by 2,4, 5, 10, 0, and 1. We will also use the problem solving strategy of making an organized list. There will be a quick check this week as well as our regular spiral work and practice workbook pages. We will do a chapter review on Thursday and take the Chapter 8 test on Friday, December 5.  The Rulers will begin Chapter 6 and work through lessons 6.1-6.4. We will focus on collecting and organizing data. We will also learn some new math terms; range, median, mode, and mean.

Reading: The Publishers will read Animal Fact, Animal Fable, the Authors will read JJ’s Big Day and take a unit test on Friday, December 5. The Illustrators will read Moses Goes to a Concert. As always the children will work in their grammar and practice workbooks on related pages. All groups should bring these books home at least twice a week as well as the hard cover once a week to re-read their story to someone at home. All groups will have a Spelling test on Friday.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and returns to school rested and ready for the three short weeks before winter break which will be busy and fun.
