I really enjoyed listening to each child share something special from the summer with the class. It gave me a lot of insight into your children!
We also spent time reading some great back to school books. Ask your son/daughter about Chrysanthemum or Froggy! Ask where was Manyoni going? We created a class graph of how we get to and from school. You have probably already heard by now that we did some basic assessments with the children…many of them were excited about their first “test” in first grade!
We also worked hard on learning all the rules and procedures for first grade! There are a lot of new things but equally as many are the same as in kindergarten. Now the students have desks. They attend mass. They will be switching teachers for reading and math. We even go to a different place to have recess! And have you heard about the tickets?
I hope your child has had a great fist week of school! I enjoyed each and every minute of it! We only attend school for three days next week. Hopefully we will get into a bit more of a routine. On Tuesday and Wednesday all the children will be given assessments to see if they are eligible for the Project Eagle Program. Don’t forget Wednesday is our P.E. day!
