3B Happenings - Aug. 29, 2008
Published by Mrs. Donovan (3B) August 29th, 2008 in Announcements.WELCOME BACK!
We had a great week! Meeting and getting to know your children has been a real joy to me. It is so heartwarming to see their happy and eager faces each morning. Please compliment them for making these first few days exciting and enjoyable.
Thank you for returning material due back to the office from the orientation day packet. For your information I have listed below our class ’specials’. I look forward to meeting you again on Curriculum Night (September 18th) at 6:30pm. Don’t forget ‘Picture Day’ is September 11th. The children love that this is an out of uniform day. They also seem to enjoy wearing gym uniforms all day each Monday. What a great time and energy saver!
Because the water bottles are a bit sweaty and messy, please send a small wash cloth for wiping up your child’s desk. Also, ask your child about how we celebrate birthdays, how we use the Homework (assignment) Notebook, how we use the behavior stoplight, how we do morning work every day before 8:00, how we use red reward tickets, and how we communicate with you using the Parent Journal and Friday Folder. More detail about all of these little procedures will be given on Curriculum Night. The children really look forward to Hot Lunches starting on September 11th and our first responsibility for readings at the children’s mass will be October 17th.
Thank you, also, for looking over and signing the Homework Notebook every night. The Wednesday Envelope requires emptying and signing before it is returned. Return only those papers or graded tests that are stamped for return. The rest of the items are for your information only and need not be returned.
Accelerated Reader program will start up now. Your child should bring a book home to read and then next week take a computerized comprehension test here in the classroom. More information will be given at Curriculum Night. They should test on 3 books before October 27.
I hope this note gives you helpful information and please check out my blog weekly. There will be information regarding test dates and homework.
