8C/Math
Published by Mrs. Svitak (8C) September 30th, 2007 in Announcements.I hope everyone had a good weekend!! You can’t beat this weather. I sure hope it continues this week and through our long 5 day weekend. The first trimester is half over already and the students have been working very hard. There will not be a POTW assigned this week, I think we could use a well deserved break.
8C Homeroom news: Art Institute Field Trip is Oct. 16th . Make sure I have your permissions slips. Unit 3 vocabulary work is due Tuesday, Oct. 2nd.
8th grade math:
8-2 We have reviewed all 8 chapters and are ready to begin Ch. 9. There will be no quiz, test or POTW this week. Enjoy!!
8-3 We will be working hard to complete Ch. 2 and could possibly have our Ch. 2 test this Thursday, Oct. 4th. We will decide as a class if we are ready or not.
Both groups will update their Fantasy Football sheets Tuesday. The students are having fun competing with their teams and have gotten alot better at calculating points. A few of the teams are looking forward to week 8 when they can trade for new players.
7th grade math:
7-2 (Alg) We will be completing Ch. 2 this week and taking the Ch. 2 test Thursday, Oct. 4th. The students will be tested on Operations with Real Numbers. Use pgs. 82-83 as a good review and study guide. We talked this week about staying focused and really concentrating as we progress through these multi-step problems. The students are working hard, and the work is hard!!
7-3 (Pre-Algebra) We will be completing Ch. 2 also and will take the test Thursday, Oct. 4th. The students will be tested on the properties of Integers and Exponents. Use pgs.104-105 sections 2-1 through 2-4, 2-6, 2-7, and 2-9 as a study guide and review. Keep up the good work!
6th Grade math:
6-2: (Blue Book) We will begin Ch. 2 Integers and Rational Numbers. This will be our first exposure to + and - numbers. The students enjoyed a card game this past Friday which introduced the concept of integers by assigning + and - values to red/black cards. I am impressed by their enthusiasm and hard work.
6-1: (Pre-Algebra) We will be working hard to complete the second part of ch. 2, Exponents and Scientific Notation. If all goes well, we will take the Ch. test Thursday. If I feel we need more time, we will wait until next week. The students are working very hard and really doing a great job.
Have a great week! Please let me know if I can be of any help, I am available in the morning.
