3B - Happenings
Published by Mrs. Donovan (3B) September 30th, 2007 in Announcements.
This Fall has been particularly beautiful! I hope you have enjoyed the weekend and will appreciate the shortened two weeks coming up. The children always love being off for the Columbus holiday and teacher institutes. There will be no school this Friday, next Monday, and next Tuesday. This blog will cover assignments and our work for the next two weeks.
Please sign and return the bottom portion only of the Mid-term Progress Report.
Reading: We will read our new stories on Wednesday. Rhyme Crime will read City Green, the Chocolate Swirls will read Web Wonders, and the Vicious Pebbles will enjoy a play entitled Pecos Bill. No new stories for the week of Oct. 8th.
Social Studies: We will create “mystery islands” to demonstrate our knowledge of maps, landforms, and geography terms. The next quiz is during the week of Oct 15th. The island maps are due this Wednesday. Watch for state report directions in this Wednesday envelope. Reports will be due the week of Oct. 22nd.
Religion: The chapter test will be next week - Thursday, October 11th.

Spanish: Pages 9, 11, and 12 are due this Thursday.
Math: The Math Monkeys are completing Chapter 3. There will be a quiz next week. Watch their Homework Notebook for the exact day. The Brainteasers will take the Chapter 2 test this Tuesday and begin Chapter 3. Both groups, please review addition facts and flashcards through 18 with your child this week and subtraction facts next week.
This week and next week will be busy. We look forward to a Performing Arts event this Tuesday. The ‘Book It’ reading incentive program begins today, Monday. Any Accelerated Reader (3 passed tests required by Oct.24th) may apply towards the minutes needed for the ‘Book It’ program. Also, any Monarch book may apply. The instructions for recording your child’s minutes of reading time will be in the Wednesday envelope. The state book your child will read may apply as well.
