MRS. DANOWSKI Week of March 19 - 23
Published by Mrs. Danowski (4A) March 17th, 2007 in Announcements.PSO: A special science-related presentation will be Friday.
HOLY CHILDHOOD Cards: It is not too late to still turn in the card!
REPORT CARDS: They “go out” Friday. No report cards will be given out earlier.
.
RELIGION: It is Reader’s Theatre time again as students imagine the feelings of Jesus in “Strike Down the Shepherd.” We use this time discuss Jesus and his walk to Calvary as selected students read the part of different characters in the scripted play. Students will create Easter cards for that special someone. How do God’s love letters of scripture speak to our heart? Students will meditate on scripture and write a love letter back to Him in their journals.
.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Students identify rivers, camps, and forts of the Lewis and Clark
journey, another way to understand the geography of the U.S. They imagine dialogue between Lewis and Clark in a Reader’s Theatre script. It’s movie time as we watch an outstanding National Geographic movie about Lewis and Clark’s 8,000 mile incredible journey!!!!!!!!!!!!
.
SCIENCE: It’s ENDANGERED ANIMAL time! Students selected their animals Friday with lots and lots of excitment. See the blue packet. Parent signature is due Tuesday. Research from at least 3 DIFFERENT resources (e.g. books, magazines, internet, encyclopedia, video, etc.) is due Thursday. Index cards and a pocket folder are also due Thursday. These materials WILL STAY at school. Your school supplies at the beginning of the school year came with a folder (no pockets) having a clear front. Save that folder to later insert the final copy of the endangered animal report. We start the week reading a TIME article describing why the big cats are in danger. This is a “kick-off” to our future notetaking by comprehending in text specific facts about habitat, food, description, behavior, why endangered, interesting facts, etc. Science Wizards are always prepared to dazzle us with what seems like magic … but… we always discuss the scientific principle behind it all.
