Miss Mayor’s Kindergarten News!
Published by Ms. S. Mayor (K) October 19th, 2008 in Announcements. This is going to be a busy and exciting week in kindergarten!
We are being introduced to three new word wall words. These words are “she”, “for”, and “they”. The children seem to be practicing these words and are continuing to recognize them in their reading. Keep up the great work! We will have three more words next week, and then we will be assessing the children on their knowledge of the 20 words so far.
In Science, we will be beginning a new unit on pumpkins! We will learn the characteristics of different pumpkins through children’s literature, hands on learning, and observations. We will also be investigating the life cycle of a pumpkin and will be bringing home many different activities completed in class.
A big thanks again to our parents who volunteered to be “Reading Parents” in K3. The children seem to enjoy having different faces to read to and impress. I can see the growth of my students’ reading and feel very confident that each child is well on their way to becoming a reader!
We have been practicing our many songs for our “Donuts for Dad” program on Friday, October 31st. I am hoping most our Dad’s will be available this day. More information to follow in this Wednesday’s envelope.
REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK:
WEDNESDAY: OFFICER FRIENDLY VISITS OUR CLASSROOM
THURSDAY: HOT LUNCH (Grilled Cheese/Turkey Sandwich from Buona Beef)
FRIDAY: GYM DAY (DON’T FORGET GYM SHOES)
Have a happy week,
Miss Mayor
