2A TODAY October 10

Good Morning!

We are certainly enjoying the beautiful weather with plenty of outdoor play. We are grabbing it while we can. I read an article this past week that recommends one hour of exercise per day for children, preferably outdoor exercise. I strongly agree and support that opinion. We go out for recess everyday unless it is raining or below 32 degrees. As the weather  gets colder please be sure your child comes with the proper outdoor coat, mittens, boots, etc.

Everyone in 2A has completed the one required Accelerated Reader test for the first quarter. In fact the children are so enthusiastic about reading that many have taken several Accelerated Reader tests. Congratulations. They have no problem taking the tests on our classroom computers during the day. There are many opportunities to fit it in. They are doing a great job. I hope they are participating in the Book-It as well. They can turn in their calendars at the end of the month to receive their pizza coupon and the November calendar. They do not have to limit their reading to 100 pages. I have told the children to mark down how many pages they read each day and total it at the end. I’m sure they will be surprised at how much they read.

The end of the first quarter is at the end of the month. It’s hard to believe one quarter has passed already. Report cards will follow a week after the end of the quarter. Please remember that if you have any concerns about your child’s progress  contact me by note or e-mail and I will answer you prmptly.
Enjoy the four day holiday. We are supposed to have great weather for all that outdoor activity.

P.S. We finally got through to our daughter in Cameroon last Sunday by phone. She is safe and very happy. It was amazing and reassuring to hear her voice.
