8th grade math:

8-2: Ch. 7 test Monday, 9/29

8-3: Ch. 2 test Thursday or Friday, 10/2 or 10/3

POTW (8)

A speedboat costs $35,000. The salesman says that it will depreciate in value by 10% each year (in other words, be worth 10% less than the year before). How many years must pass before it is worth only half of its original price?

7th Grade Math:

We will be finishing Ch. 2 this week, focusing on exponents and scientific notation.  I will also be reviewing operations with decimals and fractions (Ch. 3) in preparation for the Iowa Tests which begin next week. We may have a Ch. 2 test Thursday or Friday (10/2 or 10/3) in order to wrap things up before next week.

POTW (7)

My son is five times as old as my daughter, and my wife is five times as old as my son. I am twice as old as my wife, and my grandmother, who is as old as all of us put together, is 81 years old today.  How old is my son?

6th Grade Math:

6-2:  We will be starting Ch. 2, Integers and Rational Numbers this week.  Our main focus for the first 5 sections will be on operations containing integers. MAYBE a quiz Friday.

6-1:  Ch. 2 quiz Wednesday or Thursday, sections 2-1 through 2-5.

The Martians have invaded our planet!  The supreme ruler of Mars has decided to change the unit of length used in the United States from 12 inches to 10 inches in a foot because the supreme ruler’s foot is only 10 inches long.  Now that the Martians have taken over our planet, how many feet are in one mile?
