Published by Mrs. Danowski (4A) September 25th, 2008 in Announcements.ARTS ALIVE: Hurrah! We have it on Friday!.
.
HANDS-ON SCIENCE: Thank you SO much to all parent volunteers. Everyone enjoyed learning more about the weather through their “hands-on” experiences.
.
MID- PROGRESS REPORT: Look in the coming Weds. envelope for this report. It’s hard to believe that 1/2 of the first quarter in this school year has gone by.
.
SPANISH: I saw Mrs. Z. and she mentioned the Spanish project (p. 18) is due Thursday, October 9.
.
RELIGION: Start Ch. 3 understanding the importance of doing God’s will, learning the 10 commandments, and making their connection to our every day life. If time, the children are eager to do more “Sticky Situations,” a great way to learn God’s truth from the Bible.
.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Two days are used to review Ch. 1 as we get ready for the CH. 1 Social Studies test on Weds. On the day of the test students are required to turn in all CH. 1 class notes. They are ripped out of the spiral the night before, have all fringes cut off, put in order, and have a parent signature and student name on the top sheet. These class notes represent the student’s participation effort in class. They also serve as a study guide for the test. The notes are turned in at the time of the test (not earlier or later). A student has the chance to earn up to 5 extra percentage points on their test depending on the quality of his/her notes. If no notes are turned in, the student will earn 5 percentage points less on his/her test score. Using music students sing the states of the U.S. in alphabetical order.
.
SCIENCE: Cloud dioramas are due Monday. Students will read about and analyze weather maps, as well as identify different climate regions in the U.S. (pp. 338-340 and 346-347). Map skills will be reinforced using real newspaper weather maps.
