5A Welcome to School Fall 2008
Published by Mrs. Slapansky (5A) August 27th, 2008 in Announcements.Dear Students,
Welcome to Fifth Grade. We have had a couple of days starting our school year. You have made a great start. In religion we will study to be able to write the prayer Jesus has given us: “The Our Father.” You can study it on page 308. Friday is the day we will write the Our Father in class. We began Math with a comprehensive review of what was presented in Fourth Grade. Parents, I will explain the half hour rule at the fall open house. In the meantime, trust the students to be correct. If the students put in a good half hour effort to complete their homework, that is enough! If the homework is not complete, I will work with the students the next day to help where help is needed. It is important they do what they can do. I do not wish them to become frustrated! I am happy to guide their learning in a way that promotes their desire to learn. In Social Studies I will give a pop quiz to evaluate their knowledge of where the continents and oceans are located. I will also check that they have basic map skills. In science we are learning how organisms have characteristics that help them eat and survive in their ecosystem. (See page 17 in the Science Book) I will make an effort to keep you informed on the general assignments we are working on while encouraging the students to record and complete their assignments as independently as possible. Keep checking the blog for updates. Thank you, Mrs. Slapansky
