IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING SJA TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGAM

Dear Parents,

Investing in your child’s Catholic education is often a major financial decision and sometimes beyond the means of a family.  We are happy to say that there are some limited monies available through the Joliet Diocese and through the St. Joan of Arc Adopt-A-Student Scholarship Fund to help our families in need.

Although Adopt-A-Student subsidies have been awarded for many years, our policy of disbursement has changed. In order to be eligible for these and to ensure the equitable distribution of funds, no Adopt-A-Student Scholarship funds will be disbursed without the completion of a FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment form.

The application can be either completed online by going to the FACTS website at www.factstuitionaid.com or by picking up an application from the SJA front office. The deadline for receipt of the form and required financial documentation (including 2007 tax forms and W2’s) is June 30, 2008 to be considered for 2008-2009 financial aid. This will allow us to contact families by August 15, 2008 to inform them of financial awards for the upcoming school year.

The  FACTS application form and supporting documentation should be sent to the processing center in Lincoln, Nebraska for independent analysis. The same application form can be filled out once and is used by SJA and the Joliet diocese as well as many other Catholic schools in our area. The cost is $20 per application and is paid by each applicant.

To be eligible for consideration for diocesan assistance, applications must be made by March 1, 2008 for the following school year and applicants must reside in and be parishioners of a parish in the Joliet Diocese.  If you missed this deadline, you are still able to file the FACTS form for SJA aid.

Decisions regarding St. Joan of Arc Adopt-A-Student scholarship support will be based on data received from the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment and any supplemental information pertaining to special family circumstances that a family might choose to send to the attention of Sr. Carolyn. The privacy and security of your financial information is paramount and will be treated with the utmost respect.

If you have questions or concerns about the application process, you may speak directly with a FACTS Customer Care Representative at 1-866-315-9262.

As always, if you are able to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Adopt-A-Student Scholarship Fund and help another SJA family, please see Sr. Carolyn. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Yours in St. Joan of Arc,

Bobbi Diedrick
