3B Happenings - May 19-23
Published by Mrs. Donovan (3B) May 18th, 2008 in Announcements.The excitement level is rising as we approach year’s end. There is much to do this week and next week. We have a visit from ‘Officer Friendly’ on Monday which should be great fun. Their police dog will visit our class in the morning.
There was great weather for the STEP walk this weekend and I hope many of you were able to participate.
Next week the Planetarium field trip is Tuesday, May 27. Thank you for getting your permission slips in. We will pick the chaperones on Wednesday, May 21. Our field trip day is an out of uniform day. Please wear walking shoes and dress for the weather. Do not send money for the children to spend. They will need a brown bag lunch which should include a drink.
This Friday all library books need to be returned. Please talk to your child about the number of Accelerated Reader books on which they have passed a quiz.
Reading: The Rhyme Crime will finish Wilbur’s Boast on Wednesday and begin their last story for the year entitled Koala Catchers on Thursday. The Chocolate Swirls will finish Seal Journey on Wednesday and start their last story Open Wide, Don’t Bite. The Vicious Pebbles will finish Leah’s Pony on Wednesday and begin Baseball Saved Us. All groups will take a quiz on the completed story on Wednesday. The Spelling tests are Wednesday as well. Next week on Thursday and Friday we will have final unit testing for all groups.
Math: The Math Monkeys will finish Chapter 20 and begin Chapter 21. The Brainteasers will continue their study of fractions. Focus for the next two weeks will also be review and extension of multiplication and division skills for both groups.
Religion: This week we will cover Chapter 20. The quiz is scheduled for Thursday.
Social Studies: Everyone did an outstanding job with their reports. We will finish the year studying immigration to the U.S. and our system of government. No quiz is planned.
English: Mrs. Ladowski will meet with us on Monday and Tuesday for Writer’s Workshop. We will also finish the final copies of our creative writing stories.
Spanish: The entire book is due this Thursday and will be collected and graded.
