3A Ms. Brown May 19-June 4
Published by Ms. Brown (3A) May 18th, 2008 in Announcements.Hard to believe but this will be the last blog that I will post for the school year. Where has the time gone? As you know we normally have one posted weekly however we are at the point in our year where I think I can get all of our important information into this one post as we are busily wrapping things up for this school year.
Spanish: books need to be complete by this Friday, May 23. They will be collected.
Religion: We have finished up all of our testing for the year. We will spend the next two weeks learning about Mary and the Mysteries of the Rosary.
English/Writing: We finish up the year with grammar review sessions and scrapbook writing.
Science: This week and next week 3B students will be giving their space presentations. I am sure everyone did a great job!
Math: We are finished with testing for the year. The Octagons will be spending their time for the next two weeks with decimals and division with remainders. The Triangles finish up the year with geometry.
Reading: We are finished with Unit testing. We will still have 2 story and grammar quizzes as well as two more spelling tests. The Rulers have completed the grade three practice and grammar books. They are putting the finishing touches on third grade spelling and phonics. For Reading class we will be enjoying a short novel study. The Masters will finish up the year with Baseball Saved Us and the Aces will end with A Place Called Freedom.
The children continue to work toward meeting their accelerated reader requirement. Most of us have already done so. We can no longer check books out of our SJA library however children may still get accelerated reader books at the Lisle Library. Make sure to check the SJA AR list to make sure the books from the public library are also on our list.
Our next field trip is Tuesday, May 27 to the Adler Planetarium. Again it is an out of uniform day and the children need a disposable bag lunch. Chaperone names will be selected this Wednesday, May 21 and notes will be sent home to those parents in the Wednesday envelope. If you are chosen as a chaperone we will leave school at 8:15 sharp so please come to school with your child that morning.
The week of June 2,3,4 is a busy one. On Monday, June 2 we will have D.E.A.R. time in the afternoon. On Tuesday, June 3 we have mass and our all school picnic day. Wednesday, June 4 is promotion day and as always you may come to school anytime between 8AM and 11Am to get your child’s report card.
All in all it has been quite a busy year. I have seen the children grow in many ways over the course of this year. They have had many new skills to learn and they have worked very hard. They should all be proud of their efforts and accomplishments. I thank you parents for all of the support and encouragement you have given to your children this year in order to help them be successful in third grade. I am also grateful for the many volunteers who have come to our classroom for hot lunch, arts alive, hands on science…… Your partnership with the entire third grade teaching team has been much appreciated and valued.
I hope this summer affords you the opportunity to slow down your pace and enjoy your children. May your days be filled with all the joys that summer brings! Have a safe and happy summer and see you in the halls next fall!
