4A Mrs. Danowski — Week of March 4 - 7
Published by Mrs. Danowski (4A) March 2nd, 2008 in Announcements.CHIT CHAT: NO SCHOOL on Monday! Special thanks to the many students (even 5th graders) who surprised me with handmade birthday cards and personal notes as I arrived at SJA Friday. It was not on my mind because my birthday was over the weekend. A JOYFUL SURPRISE!
RELIGION: Continue Chapter 9 and take test on Wednesday. Begin a mini-unit (not in the textbook) called “Tour of the Church.” Its focus is on identifying and describing objects used at mass.
.
SS/SCIENCE: Last week’s wireless laptop lesson on “global warming” was a big hit with the students… another way to learn! Now that we have identified areas around the world affected, this week we identify different countries taking action to be “stewards of the Earth” as God has called us to be.
.
Students are “itching” to get into their endangered animal research. This week we read and classify facts into the categories of food, description, behavior, habitat, interesting facts, and why endangered on note cards. Students start their map rough draft showing where their endangered animal resides in the world. Last week’s movie on endangered animals (from the Illinois Benedictine endangered animal box) was “the best” I have ever seen. I previewed it at home and before I knew it my husband and daughter were both sitting down and “caught” watching it. Thanks again to Mrs. Odea for bringing the endangered animal box from Illinois Benedictine University to us!!!
