Language Arts in Kindergarten
Published by Sister Carolyn (Principal) February 29th, 2008 in Announcements. We have new a language arts program in kindergarten that is literature based with a strong phonetic component. The program is called Pegasus and is published through Kendall Hunt. Each month the children have a different unit based on a piece of literature. Through the literature they will be learning reading strategies, writing sentences, and identifying story elements, practicing letter sounds, and building word patterns. The units also offer science concepts, math skills, and art exploration.
For the remainder of the year, this program will be taught in the afternoon. The regular reading program that has been in place up til now is still being taught.
