PE Department Week of 1/28/08
Published by Wind/Wenzel Blakemore (PE) January 28th, 2008 in Announcements.Happy Catholic Schools Week! How fortunate we are to be able to send our kids to a wonderful school like SJA. We hope all the kids enjoy the festivities planned for the week.
Our PE Department is only able to use half the gym on Tuesday and Thursday this week because of practicing for the singing program on Catholic Schools Night. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, we will plan some fun activities for all the classes. Remember 7th and 8th grades will have their professional dance class on Monday.
Last Wednesday and Friday, we started square dancing with 4th through 8th grades. We started out slow with the “Virginia Reel”. The dances will become more complicated the further we go into our unit. Some of the square dance calls the kids are learning are do-si-do, promenade, allemande left, honoring your partner and the most complicated of all, the grand right and left. It takes awhile, but the kids really get into square dancing and become quite good at it.
1st through 3rd grades are also beginning dance. Kindergarten is dancing also. They will learn a new dance this week called the “Hank and Georgia”.
Have a wonderful week!
