4A - OCT. 29 - NOV. 2, 2007

CHIT CHAT: Hurrah for jean and sweatshirt day - October 31 (W). Scheduled rosary volunteers will meet in Room 4A on Saturday, Nov. 3 to learn how to make rosaries from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Please bring scissors with you. To enter SJA use the NORTH doors closest to Division Street at the front of the school. Don’t forget the “All Saints’ Day Event” on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in church. 4A students designed a poster card for the SJA priests this past week … it was awesome. I contributed the prayer, but they did the design … SO CREATIVE and so much TALENT!!!!!! Mrs. Quinlan joins our 4th grade math team starting Monday. Starting this week students are in new “specials” and those who had Spanish will now have Music (and vice versa). Gym remains the same. Check the hallway for the “leaf creatures.”

.

RELIGION: We continue to work on “Heroes of Faith” using scripture from
the Bible. This packet will be due the following week. We start Chapter 4 (pp. 77 - 83) recognizing that everyone is created in the image of God.
.

mapSOCIAL STUDIES: In the East region (Chapter 3) we focus on its climate and effects as well as its states/capitals (pp. 73-75). A video will be shown describing one part of the East region called the “Mid-Atlantic States.” Students will take notes for a later discussion. Students will be tested Friday assessing the 11 East Region states and capitals. Spelling counts! I say the state name and they write the state and relevant capital. No class notes will be turned in for this test…that only happens when it is a chapter test.

.

SCIENCE: Students will attempt to make a temporary magnet using “baggie” supplies brought in earlier for a different experiment. The Chapter 1 - Magnets’ test will be Tuesday. Chapter 2 will be started investigating static electricity (pp. 28 - 31).
