4A - WEEK OF OCTOBER 22 - 26

CHIT CHAT: Last week’s “Tuesday Mile Run” during lunch time in the gym was rescheduled for this coming Tuesday. Again, any 4th grade student wishing to do this brings his/her lunch at 11:30 a.m. this Tuesday to the gym. A very special THANK YOU to all parents who volunteer. You are a blessing to SJA. We notice you at ARTS Alive, Hands-on Science, hot lunch, helping with rosaries for our future service project, etc. Has your child been absent? Each student who is absent should receive at their desk the following day an absence sheet taped to their desk identifying what s/he missed while absent. Each absent student is required to make up all missed work/activities.
.
RELIGION: We identify ways in Chapter 3 to live and honor the “TenCommandments Commandments.” The Chapter 3 test is Wednesday. Hint.. make sure your child knows the commandments in order. (For example, “What is the 3rd commandment? … the 7th commandment?) We used scripture (God’s Love Letters to Us) to understand more clearly how Noah, Abraham, and Joshua were “Heroes of Faith.” This week we focus on “David.” There is no due date for the packet at this time. All students will create “leaf creatures” to be displayed in the hallway.
.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We start Chapter 3 (East Region - pp. 70 - 73) identifying states/capitals, interpreting maps with time zones, identifying landforms and bodies of water in the East, and creating maps.
.
magnetSCIENCE: Students continue to describe the properties of magnets and how they exert a force over a distance (p. D14 - 24). A Chapter 1 magnet test is scheduled for the following week - October 30 (Tuesday).
