3B - Happenings

Welcome to the 3B blog! I will be updating this each week end. I hope this will be a useful communication tool regarding homework, test scheduling, and other useful information.

The children have been eager to tell me that they had a wonderful summer. They seem to be so excited to get back with their school friends. Meeting and getting to know them has been a joy.

Thank you for carefully going through the Orientation Day materials and returning the important papers. Monday begins our first full week of school. The children want to do their best work and are trying very hard. Please praise them! We will add subjects each day this week and be on our full schedule after Labor Day. Please look over your child’s Assignment Notebook daily and sign off that you understand the pages covered and homework given. A check mark by work completed means those pages were covered at school. Please review your child’s work and offer suggestions where needed especially in Math and Reading. There will be very little coming home this week, but after Labor Day homework will begin in earnest. The children told me they are already reading for 10-15 minutes out loud to you every evening. This is the best practice for them, especially if you offer gentle guidance with pronunciation and difficult word meaning. What’s fun for them is your simply showing real interest in what they read.

It’s great to be back! Please contact me by note, a phone message at the school office, email, or write in your child’s Homework Notebook. Just remind them to show me the note. Sometimes they forget. I look forward to working with you and thank you.
