FIELD TRIP: The trip to the Brookfield Zoo is May 22, Tuesday. The permission note and fee are due by Wednesday, May 16. Casual clothing with tie shoes is permitted. In addition, they may bring a sack lunch, disposable drinks, and cameras. NO I-PODS or other electronical equipment is permitted. No money is needed, we will NOT be shopping in the gift shops. The DOs and the DON’TS will be covered in class with students.

RELIGION: May 13 is the feast of Our Lady of Fatima. She will be the topic of conversation and video. We will also study Joan of Arc who is the only person, of either sex, who has ever held supreme command of the military forces of a nation at the age of seventeen. I have been reading Mark Twain’s story of her and will have extra tidbits to share with the class.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We take a look at the Civil Rights movement (text & video) in the South before completing Chapter 5 (South Region) and taking the test Thursday. Remember class notes are turned in at the time of the test with parent signature for extra credit points toward the final test grade.

SCIENCE: Science Wizard is scheduled for Friday! Students receive back their parent edited rough drafts on Tuesday. The final copy of the endangered animal report is due May 22…the day of the Brookfield Zoo trip. Students will bring home their note cards, edited rough draft, research, and guidelines. Also, we continue to study the relationship between atoms, elements, compounds, solids, liquids, and gases (Chapter 2 science text).
