PE Department Week of April 30, 2007

The kids that are staying inside with Mrs. Blakemore are playing “Pickle Ball”. This is a combination of ping pong, badminton and tennis. Quite fun! Observing the 8th grade boys is amazing. They love this game. The PE teachers at Benet Academy let us use their paddles and balls, thank you very much!
4th and 5th grades are playing team handball. The rules for this game are very similar to basketball. There are traveling fouls, jump balls, defensive guarding, etc. The girls are mixing it up with the boys quite well in this game. We are continuing floor exercises with them at the beginning of class.
3rd grade continues to play soccer and pillo polo. The also do floor exercises at the beginning of class. Please make sure your child has shoes that tie well and fit. We have been having some problems with the children tying their shoes for PE.
Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades are doing a combination of activities including juggling, mimicking games and dances.
REMEMBER - Roller blading begins Monday, May 7 for grades 4 through 8. Please make sure your child’s permisssion form and money are in by then. If your child is not going to roller blade, they will be placed in an appropriate academic and/or physical fitness activity.
