Ms. Brown 3A Week of April 16-20
Published by Ms. Brown (3A) April 15th, 2007 in Announcements. It is so nice to be in the fourth quarter. All of our hard work and busy pace of the second and third quarters has prepared us well for this time of the year. We now have the opportunity to slow our pace down and enjoy refining the new skills that we have acquired this year. Much of what we have worked for this year is becoming “automatic’ for most of us. A good sign that we are ready for the challenges of fourth grade next year.
In Religion we will finish our church history presentations on Tuesday and begin Chapter 20 on Wednesday. We will take the Chapter 20 quiz next week. After that only one more chapter in our Religion books. That will give us the opportunity to study the rosary during the month of May.
In English we work on finishing up Unit 8 which has focused on adverbs. Our Unit 8 test will be next week as well, Wednesday, April 25. In Creative Writing now that we have completed our requirements for our writing portfolios we can spend some time with fun poetry and scrapbook writing. We will enjoy this fourth quarter polishing up our scrapbooks!
In Math the Blue Diamonds tested out of Chapter 5 very successfully. They will take the Chapter 4 test on Wednesday, April 18. We are also working in Chapter 6 with 2 digit factors and will be halfway through the chapter by Thursday of this week. The Diamonds will test out of Chapter 10, Geometry, on Friday, April 20. They will move onto fractions and decimals next week.
In Reading, the Warriors will take the Book 2 Unit 2 Test on Monday, April 16. The Champions have just begun Unit 2 in the fourth grade book while the Wizards are on track to test out of Unit 2 on Friday, April 27.
In Science 3B students will finish their planet reports on Monday and Tuesday and present them on Wednesday and Thursday. Then everyone will be ready to work on their planet fact booklet. Next week we begin to learn how we have seasons and day and night. We also begin to take a close look at the moon.
Spanish assignment due Friday, April 20: pages 14,17,18.
This week’s fun event: Performing Arts Assembly on Tuesday!
Many children have been asking about third grade field trips. This year as in the past we save our fun for the month of May. Notes will be coming home in plenty of time with all of the specifics. Our trips again will be to the Lisle Heritage Society in mid-May and the Adler Planetarium during the last week of May. Both trips are curriculum related, interesting, and of course a lot of fun!
All in all it is a nice, pleasant time of the year. Hopefully the weather begins to be more spring like so we can enjoy the sun, warmer temperatures, and some good fresh air at recess time! See you next week.
