3B Happenings
Published by Mrs. Donovan (3B) April 12th, 2007 in Announcements.During the week of 4/16 - 4/20 we will continue units of study already in progress.
The children have received an overview of church history and will have the Religion Chapter 19 test on Thursday. The English unit on adjectives will continue this week. 3B students are very excited about their study of the planets; and 3A students have begun their research and are preparing to give oral reports on a Native American tribe due April 25. Please refer to the blue note sent home last Wednesday for directions on how to help your child with the project.
In Reading, all groups are either in the fourth grade reader or finishing the third grade stories. They are all proud of the progress they themselves can see in their independent work and comprehension skills. The ‘Funky Monkeys’ will have a Unit Test this Wednesday and Thursday. The ‘Snipper Snappers’ and ‘Chicago Bears’ will have testing next week. All groups have Grammar quizes on Friday and Spelling tests as well.
In Math, almost everyone has mastered their multiplication tables. They are finding this a huge help when solving problems with multi-digit numbers. Re-grouping in multiplication, long division, and multi-step word problems will be our focus this week. The ‘Flaming French Fries’ will try problems that have two-digit multipliers! This is challenging, but they feel confident. They will have a quiz at the end of this week. The ‘Gladiators’ are finishing Geometry. They are eager to study 3-dimensional figures. We continue to re-visit higher level multiplication and division. Their testing will be next week.
These are busy weeks ahead. Thank you for all the homework help you provide.
