SCHOLASTIC FREE BOOK COUPON:  Each 4A student received a coupon at Christmas for a free book up to the value of $2.95.  Several students redeemed their coupons on the last book order.  Don’t forget to get your free book before school is out! Okay!!!

FATHERHOOD ESSAY:   Look for information about this activity to come home.  The essay must be typed and returned to me by Feb. 28 (Weds.).

VISION SCREENING:  4th grade students will be tested on Friday, Feb. 23.

MID-PROGRESS REPORTS:  Look in the Weds. envelope for feedback on your child’s performance thus far in marking period 3.

RELIGION:  We are “wrapping up” Chapter 9 on ways to adore and praise God everyday.  Remember, students can earn extra credit on their chapter tests by memorizing relevant scripture and writing it correctly on their tests.  Many students have made a difference in their test score  (e.g. going from a “B” to an “A”).  As we start Lent, students will read scripture (God’s love letters to us), meditate, and write love letters back to him in their new journals.

SOCIAL STUDIES:   Learning about the mineral resources in the Midwest region, describing major midwest towns, and explaining why the Louisiana Purchase led to the westward movement are our academic objectives this week.  We will finish Chapter 7 (Midwest region) next week and be tested next week on the chapter.   Well …what can I say?  When I announced that we were starting Lewis and Clark today (Tuesday) the students cheered.  YEH ! YEH!  I have read the journals of Lewis and Clark ….so I have alot of “extra” tidbits to share with the students.  You should have seen your child’s pink Lewis and Clark packet.

SCIENCE:  This is our last week for teams to create their National Parks poster and practice performing.  Next week “the show goes on!”   And….bring on the Science Wizards!  Individuals will perform experiments demonstrating different scientific principles on Friday.
