3A The Week of January 29- February 2
Published by Ms. Brown (3A) January 27th, 2007 in Announcements. It was a busy, productive, and fun week. I hope your children had an opportunity to tell you all about it. We made and painted our planets and did our planet research. This week coming up, they will assemble their planet reports and present them to the class. We will have time to begin talking about the sun and moon this week too.
On Friday we had a visit from our 8th grade buddies who had donuts with us and began the process of working on their buddy books.
3A and 3B spent some time working on a February bulletin board project together. Everyone seemed to have a good time.
In Creative Writing we wrote Who Am I? riddles which you will have the chance to solve at our open house this week. We will also finish up our paragraphs about why we are grateful for our Catholic education.
In Religion this week we will work on Chapter 14 and take the test on Thursday, February 1. The title of the chapter is Share Your Light which are the words that have been the center of our prayer focus since we returned from winter break. We have been working on “sharing our light” with everyone we meet. This week we will learn about virtues.
In English we continue on with using irregular verbs.
In Math the Blue Diamonds are on track to take the Chapter 12 test on Wednesday, January 31. The Diamonds are halfway through Chapter 7 and will learn about ordered pairs this week and begin to work with probability.
In Reading, all groups are progressing nicely. Please remind your child to bring home their practice and grammar books at least once a week so you can see the quality of their work. Most important is to be answering questions in complete sentences.
Our use of cursive is coming along. The more we practice the more comfortable we will become with it and the more quickly we will be able to write.
This week, of course, is Catholic Schools Week and we will be doing many related activities. Besides writing our paragraphs about why we are grateful for our Catholic education, we will also make a banner and pennants for the spirit rally. We will also enjoy an ice cream treat on Monday, shoelace day on Tuesday, slipper day on Wednesday, performing arts on Thursday, and the always exciting spirit rally on Friday. Sounds exhausting!!! I am sure everyone will enjoy the celebration.
I hope you have an opportunity to stop by 3A on Thursday night. The children have been busy preparing for your visit.
Have a great weekend!
